Therefore, spend as much time as you can with the preparation. Invest into best quality Automotive touch up and Spray paint, clear coat, basecoat, and primer for best results.
So, how do you prepare your car for a paint job? Get ready because this blog is all about painting your beauty like a pro.
But first - do you know your car paint code?

1. Cutting
How do you plan on putting the new paint without removing the existing one?
Well, cutting helps do just that.
Before you start applying the cutting compound, make sure to tape off the surrounding areas. This process can go all over the place, so wear appropriate clothes, gloves, and glasses for safety.
With the help of a clean cloth, apply the compound in a circular motion. Decide the pressure depending on how the paint is reacting. Don’t spend too much time on one area, keep moving.
Spray water on the surface to cool down the paint.
2. Sanding
Spend as much time as you can sanding because doing this right can prepare the base by 60%.
You can use either a sandpaper or an electric orbital sander depending on the vehicle. Use 1200 grit sandpaper to remove the clear coat and paint. Make sure they aren’t any glossy spots on the body, otherwise the primer won’t hold to it.
Keep the pressure gentle to remove minor light scratches in color coats and clear coats.
3. Priming
The primer seals the surface and creates a protective barrier, which helps the paint adhere to the surface. It smoothens any imperfections on the metal.
Don’t compromise on the quality of the primer. It should be a high-quality automotive primer, which is used on metal surfaces.

Apply two or more coats of the primer to make sure that all parts are covered. If you still find any more bumps, re-sand the area. And then apply the primer again.
Don’t rush this step, it can make or break the process.
